About Trafford SEN Roundup
An independent noticeboard of what's on for families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Trafford.
Who runs it
Trafford SEN Roundup is run by a local parent. We aren't SEND professionals, and we aren't the council, the NHS, a school or the Local Offer. Nobody pays to be listed, and there are no adverts.
What we list
Things with a date and a link, for families of children and young people from birth to 25: support groups and coffee mornings, regular sessions, workshops and courses, holiday clubs, open days, consultations and surveys, funding rounds, and closing dates that official bodies publish. Each listing says what, when, where and who runs it. Who something is for is in the organiser's own words. We also list news from official bodies such as the council, the NHS and the Department for Education, and organisers' own announcements about what they run: their headline, the date and a link, with nothing added about what it means.
The roundup on the front page is this week's edition: what's on this weekend and in the week ahead, dates coming up, and what's new.
Lists start with Trafford, then places within easy reach (Manchester, Salford, Stockport and north Cheshire), then places worth a trip (such as Bolton, Wigan and Warrington), with online sessions last. Every listing shows its town.
What we don't do
- We don't give advice. We don't explain rights, the law, EHC plans or other processes, who qualifies for what, or health matters.
- We don't say whether something is right for a particular child, and we don't rate or review schools, services or professionals.
- We can't answer questions about anyone's own situation. The organisations on Who can help can.
How we check
Listings are found by automated research, which can get things wrong, and looked over by a person every week. Most listings come from the organiser's own page. When we've only found something on another listing, such as a venue, ticket site or local round-up, it says "Date unconfirmed" and links to where we found it until we can see it on the organiser's page. Every listing shows when we last checked it. Closing dates are always checked twice against the official page before they appear, and news comes only from the publisher's own website.
Some things happen at about the same time every year, before this year's date is published. We show those as "Expected", with a month, last year's dates and where they came from. An Expected date isn't confirmed: it becomes a date only when the organiser publishes it, and it's never about anyone's own situation.
This is what we've found, not everything that's on: plenty happens that we don't know about. Details change, so check with the organiser before you go or apply.
Spotted a mistake?
Email [email protected] and we'll correct it or take it down. Corrections to closing dates and news are listed on our corrections page. If you run something we've listed and would like it removed, ask and we'll remove it.
That address is for corrections and suggestions only. If you need help with your own situation, contact one of the organisations on Who can help.
Privacy
There are no accounts and no tracking cookies. We count visits and taps with Umami's cookieless analytics, hosted in the EU: it stores nothing on your device and doesn't collect anything that identifies you. We never record sessions and never ask about a child's needs. What you type into search stays on your phone: we count only whether a search found something.
